Fish Candy
This Stonefly pattern provides optimum fly movement in the water and offers a very “buggy” profile. This is my “go to fly” in many of the rivers I fish.
Tied on a range of hook sizes and bead colours to enable the pattern to be employed as the river conditions change. Typically, I use the orange bead variant for coloured water, red in clearing and move from black to the brighter beads in clear water.
Employing this fly with split shot placed on the trace 100 to 150mm above the top fly allows the same fly to be used as you move from lie to lie avoiding the need to change the fly to one with a different bead weight.
